Happy Holidays from the Yarn Sellar!

We hope you've had a wonderful fall, and are almost done with your holiday gift-making!  We want thank our wonderful customers for their support over the past year.  We wish everyone the best for the holidays and in the coming year.

Holiday Hours
The Yarn Sellar will be closed December 24th - January 2nd so we can spend some well-deserved time with our families.  We will resume our normal business hours on Tuesday, January 3rd.

Severe Weather Reminder
We've had pretty mild weather so far, but you know how it is with winter - sudden storms, snow, or icy conditions can happen just about any time.  We just want to remind our customers that if the Rockford or Harlem schools are closed due to severe weather, the Yarn Sellar will also be closed for the safety of our staff and customers.

Credit Card Policy Change
Beginning January 3rd, 2012 the only payment options we will accept will be Debit Cards, Cash, and Checks.  Due to high transaction processing fees, we will no longer be able to accept credit cards.  We apologize for any inconvenience!

Summer has been flying by. It is hard to believe that school will be starting in a few short weeks. It isn't too soon to start on your Christmas projects. Come in and we can show you some wonderful project ideas that will be right for you.

Bond Club
The Bond Club is in full swing. This is for those that have the Incredible Sweater Machine or the Ultimate Sweater Machine and want to make the most with them! Well summer is here and the weather has been crazy. Here at the Yarn Sellar, we have some fun clubs and sales to keep you busy during the warm days.

A charity fundraiser is being held at Casey's Pub for Breanna, a 13 year old girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This benefit fundraiser is to assist her family off-set medical expenses. It is being held on July 17th, 1-6 PM. It is a silent auction, with activities and food provided.

Spring is in the Air!

Minus the occasional day when winter digs in its heels, the weather is finally starting to get a little warmer. With the onset of spring, most knitters set aside dark-hued wools for lighter, brighter colors and more airy blends.

Here at the store, we're happy to start putting out some of our favorite spring-time yarns - on days when it feels more winter than spring outside, at least inside we've got some pretty colors to look at!

Two of our newer yarns we're excited about are Kertzer Northern Chunky (which despite the name can be knit up as anything from a heavy worsted to a bulky weight depending on needle size and the knitter's tension) and Rozetti Frigya DK. Not only do these great yarns come in some scrumptious springtime colors, they also boast great yardage per ball. Kertzer is a very impressive 324 yards, while Frigya (which can be knit as a sport or DK weight depending on needle size and tension) offers 275 yards.



Aren't there some gorgeous spring-y colors in there?

We love the incredible softness and beautiful color changes in the Kertzer yarn. And we adore the drape of the Rozetti. In fact, we used Frigya DK to knit up this beautiful baby cardigan:

Is It Spring Yet?

We hope you're having a wonderful 2011 so far! Apologies for the lack of updates over the New Year, but our resident webmaster was out for a few weeks welcoming a new addition to her family!

Say hello to our newest honorary Yarn Sellar family member, baby Noah (wearing a hat his mom knit him)! This little peanut was a New Year's Eve baby! Welcome, Noah!



In other news, did you see the store's new website layout? We've already opened part of the online store with a few Yarn Sellar exclusive patterns, but we have plenty more planned for the future!

We're also proud to announce that we are the only store in the area carrying Knit Picks needles! These needles are some of our favorites for their excellent points and flexible cables perfect for the magic-loop method.

We're stocking their extremely popular line of interchangeable circular needle sets (3 materials available: Zephyr Acrylics, Options Nickel-Plated, and beautiful multi-colored Harmony Wood), DPN sets (in Nickel and Harmony), Nickel 16" fixed circulars, and Harmony straights. We're planning on phasing out some of our current selection of needles in favor of the Knit Picks ones. The best part is, if we don't have the Knit Picks needle you're looking for, we order once a month and will be happy to place an order for you! Our store is charging the same price as the Knit Picks site (with no shipping required!), and they are discountable with our loyalty Ewe Card!

Finally, if you're ever in the area and have the need, our store is offering free faxing services, no store purchase required. We know what a pain it can be to find a fax machine (especially one that doesn't cost a lot), so we'd love to help out!
